Primal Scream's 'Slip Inside This House' is actually a cover of an insanely surreal and psychedelic 13th Floor Elevators track. However, huge kudos to Bobby & Co. for taking a late '60s LSD-soaked song and propelling it into the 90s ecstasy-soaked rave scene. It's a brilliant version of an immensely deep, and powerful song.
Interesting that it got left off - I'm working on 1992 and Automatic For The People is included on the list. I don't know which REM album I'd choose over the other if I had to pick
Is Loveless actually missing from this list, or am I just reading too quickly? I’d also add Teenage Fanclub’s Bandwagonesque, Saint Etienne’s Foxbase Alpha, and Pixies’ Trompe le Monde. But I know there are a lot more they skipped!
You’re totally right - Loveless got left off. I put the RS list in a spreadsheet and must have had an error in the year column.
They certainly skipped a lot of other good ones. It’s been interesting to see which albums made the list and try to parse their thought process. Awesome suggestions - I had the PIxies in mind as well!
That wasn't a knock on you btw — I absolutely wouldn't put it past RS to leave off a seminal album like that (in favor of RHCP no less lol) and quite frankly I didn't go looking at their list myself!
No worries! Part of why I’m listening through it is to evaluate RS and their judgment - I grew up being told they were the authority and although I’ve learned that’s not really the case, I figured the best way to know for sure is to go through the list myself!

1991 was all about R.E.M.'s Out of Time for me. It's still a great album!

I'd still pick Out of Time between the two!
